A public participation event held in Kabras East sub-county ward, Malava Constituency, has seen overwhelming support for the establishment of a technical training institute in the area. The proposal, which was met with enthusiasm by community leaders, religious groups, and the youth, aims to empower locals with skills and education.<\/p>\n

The event, which brought together various stakeholders, including community administrators, disability caucus, Boda Boda riders, and opinion leaders, was held to discuss the feasibility of the institute. Kefa Musiya, Member of County Assembly (MCA) East Kabras, emphasized the need for the institute, stating that it would help bridge the gap in skills development in the area.<\/p>\n

The community administrators from the wards in Kabras East affirmed their support for the proposal, citing the benefits of having a technical training institute in the area. Religious leaders from the area also embraced the proposal, expressing their hope that the societal norms will be preserved by an educated society.<\/p>\n

The disability caucus from Malava sub-county welcomed the initiative, stating that it will diversify opportunities for people living with disabilities. The youth from the area also expressed strong support for the move, challenging the elderly in the organizing community to involve them in administrative and planning to ensure the plans are implemented effectively.<\/p>\n

Boda Boda riders, represented by Caleb Katembu, urged all riders to embrace the initiative, stating that it will empower their profession. He also asked the leadership to prioritize security matters in the initiative, as it goes hand in hand with their work.<\/p>\n

Opinion leaders also welcomed the initiative, urging that the program is long overdue. They emphasized the need for the community to come together to support the proposal and ensure its success.<\/p>\n

Malava MP, David Ndakwa, who was present at the event, applauded the community for their support and commitment to the initiative. He stated that an educated society is an empowered society and committed to ensuring that the dream of having a technical training institute in Kimangeti becomes a reality.<\/p>\n

The MP acknowledged that there was opposition to the proposal, with some arguing that the technical institute had earlier been proposed to be based in Manda Shivanga ward. However, he emphasized that this will be the first technical institute in Malava since Shamberere has been upgraded to a national polytechnic, and it was time the community came together to support the initiative.<\/p>\n

The benefits of the technical training institute are numerous, including job opportunities, economic growth, and empowerment. The MP stated that the institute will help bring development closer to the people and create a more proactive society.<\/p>\n

The MP has also announced plans to allocate bursaries to support education in the area, with learners in day schools receiving Sh6,000 each for the least populated areas and Sh5,000 for the densely populated areas.<\/p>\n
