For Wilkister Atieno Otieno, fondly known as Chef Wao, the journey to a comfortable life has been anything but ordinary.<\/p>\n
Before leaving Kenya, Wilkister worked as a security guard, earning a meagre salary of KSh 9,000 per month, just enough to get by.<\/p>\n
Like many others chasing better opportunities abroad, she made the difficult decision to leave home and seek work in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
She eventually found employment as a domestic worker in Hafar Al Batin, Saudi Arabia, a move that would shape the next chapter of her life.<\/p>\n
Years passed as she worked tirelessly, far from family and the familiarity of home. She endured the emotional strain and the physical demands of her job, all while holding onto a vision of a better future.<\/p>\n
Then, on December 24, 2025, she returned home, quietly and without fanfare, catching her family completely by surprise.<\/p>\n
It was a moment filled with joy, relief, and the beginning of something new. Armed with savings from her years abroad, Wilkister wasted no time.<\/p>\n
She channelled her energy into launching a small catering business, drawing on her passion for food and her determination to rebuild her life on her own terms.<\/p>\n
But she didn\u2019t stop there.<\/p>\n
In a milestone that has since inspired many, Wilkister recently celebrated the purchase of her own tuk-tuk, an investment she hopes will generate income and expand her entrepreneurial footprint.<\/p>\n
Sharing her achievement, she reflected on the long road that led her there, choosing to celebrate not just the visible success but the unseen struggles that shaped her.<\/p>\n
\u201cI celebrate me,\u201d she wrote. \u201cNot just for the wins that are visible, but for the battles I fought in silence, the strength I found in broken moments, and the growth that didn\u2019t happen overnight.\u201d<\/p>\n
In her message, she acknowledged the setbacks, the perseverance, and the unwavering decision to keep going, even when the odds seemed stacked against her.<\/p>\n
