The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have signalled a new phase of political cooperation following high-level talks held on Thursday.<\/p>\n
In a joint statement, the two parties said the meeting centred on strengthening collaboration and aligning key priorities, in what could pave the way for a formal coalition.<\/p>\n
The talks brought together UDA\u2019s Steering Committee and ODM\u2019s Central Management Committee, marking a rare engagement between the ruling party and the opposition.<\/p>\n
At the heart of the discussions was a proposal to establish a coalition framework.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese engagements are meant to build consensus on priority issues and lay the foundation for a coalition of equals between UDA and ODM,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
President William Ruto and ODM leader Oburu Oginga also agreed to form a coordination structure to harmonise government and parliamentary business.<\/p>\n
The proposed Broad-Based Management Committee will comprise party leaders, select Cabinet ministers, and Majority and Minority leaders in Parliament.<\/p>\n
It will be mandated to align legislative and executive agendas to enhance efficiency and service delivery.<\/p>\n
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue, unity of purpose, and inclusive governance.<\/p>\n
