Namagara SDA Secondary School, a prominent sub-county day school in Kakamega North, has achieved a historic milestone in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The school has outperformed well-known extra-county and county schools in the region, setting a new standard of academic excellence within the area.
The institution registered a remarkable positive deviation of +7 from its previous mean score, reaching an impressive 7.4. This significant improvement underscores the school’s commitment to academic excellence and the effectiveness of its educational strategies. Furthermore, the number of students securing university placements has tripled, rising from 72 last year to 176 in 2025.
Judith Luvaha, the school’s principal, attributed the outstanding results to the concerted efforts of all stakeholders involved throughout the year. She emphasized that despite numerous challenges, the school’s community remained focused and resilient. “Despite the hurdles we faced as a country—including capitation delays, a shortage of teachers, and social interferences—every group worked tirelessly to ensure our students had adequate support and concentration time,” she stated.
Luvaha acknowledged that the collective effort paid off, resulting in the school’s impressive academic performance. She expressed pride in the students’ determination and the staff’s dedication, which she believes were instrumental in achieving these results. Her remarks highlighted the importance of teamwork and community involvement in fostering academic success.
The principal also took a moment to commend the girl child for their exemplary performance, noting that female students have surpassed their male counterparts. She observed that societal efforts to provide safety, support, and guidance to girls have contributed significantly to this achievement. “The girl child is well taken care of, and it shows in their outstanding results,” she said.
Conversely, Luvaha pointed out that the performance gap between girls and boys might be attributed to societal neglect of the boy child. She suggested that more attention and support are needed to ensure boys also reach their full potential. Nevertheless, she remained optimistic about bridging this gap through targeted interventions.
Namagara Secondary School’s consistent rise over the years has solidified its position as a formidable academic institution within Kakamega County. The school’s reputation as a regional powerhouse continues to grow, attracting students from across the area eager to benefit from its quality education.
The school’s impressive performance has not only boosted its academic profile but also sparked increased interest among learners. Over 500 slots for the upcoming academic year have already been filled, reflecting the school’s rising popularity and the confidence placed in its educational standards.
School administrators and teachers remain optimistic about maintaining and even surpassing this year’s achievements. With continued support from stakeholders and a focus on student-centered learning, Namagara SDA Secondary School is poised to sustain its upward trajectory.
