From Passion to Action Malava Environmental Group Plans AGM and Community Tree Planting Drive

As the year approaches mid the environmental advocates of Kenya from Malava sub county chemuche ward are preparing to celebrate their annual general meeting(AGM) since their start The group started may 2025 with people who had passion in caring and protecting. The group earlier in January registered new members enough to register their CBO. Having been engaged by different people who love their work. They are expected to plants trees across schools, hospitals and other government facilities in the show of love about the protection of environment. The team leader and chairperson of the group Titus Shiketi encouraged them to keep on with their zeal in environmental protection not only in planting trees but to make sure where they leave is clean with no litters and to make sure the forest and river banks are well protected Shiketi spoke to members during their executive meeting on preparation for their fixed schedule coming in the month of May and June
The secretary general Getray Muronji thanked the members who have decided to protect the environment with no cost and revealed without mentioning the exerct date muronji revealed that every birthday of members will be celebrated by planting 30trees in their homes representing the number of members who started the cbo
The cbo have been in operational for a year now having their demo farms off CDF roads Shivikhwa and msalaba where they have about 10,000tree seedlings to gift its members and plant in public facilities like schools hospitals for generations to use after generation.
The cbo is expected to be registered once they raise the required finances. The group was moved by the initiative of presindent William Ruto to live in clean environment citing the pandemic of Corona that almost caused the world to an end because of neglance of environment that caused these
“We will change the tune especially to the youth and we will take charge of the environment to appease the ancestors who left us on clean environment but is with our technology and industry we have destroyed it it is now nor never” Titus shiketi
The chairperson cited the challenges the go through as the cbo ; Challenges in transport Kakamega county being large, Challenges of polythene bags to bed trees, Theft of trees in their demo farms that drag them backward not to achieve to their targets and Challenges of water to watering their tree seedlings during the dry season
