The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have signalled a new phase of political cooperation following high-level talks held on Thursday.
In a joint statement, the two parties said the meeting centred on strengthening collaboration and aligning key priorities, in what could pave the way for a formal coalition.
The talks brought together UDAโs Steering Committee and ODMโs Central Management Committee, marking a rare engagement between the ruling party and the opposition.
At the heart of the discussions was a proposal to establish a coalition framework.
โThese engagements are meant to build consensus on priority issues and lay the foundation for a coalition of equals between UDA and ODM,โ the statement said.
President William Ruto and ODM leader Oburu Oginga also agreed to form a coordination structure to harmonise government and parliamentary business.
The proposed Broad-Based Management Committee will comprise party leaders, select Cabinet ministers, and Majority and Minority leaders in Parliament.
It will be mandated to align legislative and executive agendas to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue, unity of purpose, and inclusive governance.
The latest developments point to a shifting political landscape, with structured engagement between government and opposition gaining momentum.
