Chepterwai Girls Students Inspired by New Opportunities Following Bus Donation

In the past, education was not valued as highly as it is today. In today’s fast-changing world, education continues to unite people, bridge social and economic gaps in society. It has opened up remote parts of the country and created opportunities for many communities to improve their livelihoods and embrace development. This message was strongly echoed during a Thanksgiving Mass and the handover ceremony of school bus at St. John Paul II Chepterwai Girls High School in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County. Speaking during the event, Presidential Aide Farouk Kibet urged residents to prioritize education, describing it as a key pillar in protecting wealth, empowering future generations and enabling communities to engage competitively in a modern and diversified economy.
The school bus, donated by the Kenya Pipeline Company Foundation, is expected to greatly benefit students by easing transportation challenges and enabling them to participate in co-curricular activities, academic trips and competitions with other schools.

The Holy Mass was led by Bishop John Kiplimo Lelei of the Catholic Diocese of Kapsabet. The occasion that brought together parents, teachers, students and leaders in a spirit of thanksgiving and celebration for the school’s consistent academic excellence over the years.
Leaders who addressed the congregation praised the commitment and sacrifice shown by teachers, parents and students in maintaining high academic standards and shaping responsible citizens.
Farouk Kibet commended William Samoei Ruto for reforms in the education sector, particularly the recruitment of 100,000 teachers within two years, which he termed as a historic achievement. He further applauded the government for increasing the education budget from KSh500 billion to KSh700 billion and enhancing capitation funds to improve access to quality education for learners across the country.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah criticized former Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i over the rollout of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system, arguing that it was introduced without adequate planning and preparation especially regarding the placement of Grade 10 learners after completing Grade 9 the mess that was corrected by the current regime
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to improving infrastructure in schools by supporting the construction of classrooms, laboratories and other learning facilities aimed at creating a safe and conducive learning environment for students.
“Together, we will continue strengthening our schools, empowering our teachers and creating more opportunities for our young people to excel and compete globally.”

On the political front, leaders present criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of undermining the current administration. They called on him to enjoy his retirement peacefully and offer guidance where necessary instead of engaging in active politics.
They further noted that the economy was gradually improving and that several stalled development projects had resumed and contractors are on the site like road infrastructure

Among the leaders present were Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula, Mwengi Mutuse, John Bwire, Innocent Mugabe, David Ndakwa, Julius Melly, Emmanuel Wangwe, Maryanne Kaitany, Bernard Kitur, Nandi Woman Representative Cynthia Muge, Japheth Nyakundi, and several MCAs from Nandi, Uasin Gishu, and Kakamega counties, among other distinguished guests
