Leaders affiliated with the Western Two-Term Brigade have endorsed President William Rutoโs bid for a second term, citing what they described as tangible development gains in the region during the first three years of his administration.
Speaking at a church service in Mumias, Kakamega County, the brigadeโs chairperson, Kenneth Lusaka, said the decision to support the Head of State was driven by visible progress across Western Kenya. He pointed to the revival of key industries and ongoing road infrastructure projects as evidence of the governmentโs commitment to the region.
โAlthough President Ruto has been in office for a relatively short time, the impact is clear, Factories have reopened, roads have been upgraded, and new development projects have been launched across our counties. Our support is grounded in performance, not political rhetoric.โ Lusaka said
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa echoed the remarks, stating that the region stands to benefit more by working closely with the national government rather than aligning itself with opposition politics.
โThis is about securing a better future for our people, We must make political choices that attract development opportunities to our region. What ultimately matters are results, and those results are coming from the government.โ governor barasa said
The leaders also cautioned residents against what they termed โmisleading narrativesโ from politicians pushing for a united opposition front in Western Kenya. They argued that collaboration with the national government is already delivering meaningful development outcomes.
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the 2027 running mate position, urging leaders to respect the Presidentโs constitutional prerogative.
โThe selection of a deputy president is the sole responsibility of the President,ย Our primary focus should be on service delivery and advancing the development agenda.โ
Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau described their support for Ruto as both strategic and forward-looking.
โWe are backing President Ruto because he has shown clear vision and dedication to transforming this region,โ Bisau said. โOur focus is on the future.โ
Among those in attendance were Vihiga Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, and Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.
